Workshop Presentations

Since the beginning of their time at Discovery Summer, each student has chosen an English Workshop to participate in. Yesterday, they presented their projects to the other students. Take a look here at their wonderful creations... In the Lonely Planet workshop the students had to research the culture and geography of various cultures. Here are some student presenting their work on France. In the recycled art workshop, children had to make their own creations from previously used materials. This robot looks incredible. These students were tasked with making their own board games. They conducted their own research to determine what people liked about board games and then make their own from scratch. Above are some photos of the kids' board games on the screen and their creators below. Here are our Funky Fundraiser workshop students. They came up with creative new ways to raise money for a school in Sierra Leone which is funded by Discovery Summer.

STEAM Day

This Saturday morning, instead of standard English skills classes the DS Radley teens took part in a STEAM day. This consisted of nine activities or short-lessons in different classrooms, each being about 17 minutes long. They all involved Science, Technology, Engineering, Art or Mathematics. Activities included bridge building, tower construction and catapult making! Robotics in the future and their implications Colour wheels and white light Boat making IVF and biology Tower construction Building support structures with spaghetti Catapult design and construction Linguistic Olympiad The science of tattoos

Many thanks to all who took part in our wonderful summer. We had students from 34 different nations boasting a wide range of skills and interests. As a small tribute, here is a series of short videos highlighting some of the key events of the summer.
