Workshop presentations week 4: Super constructors

This week's 'super constructors' workshop was lead by teacher Nick.
The yellow team and the blue team were competing to build the strongest, most stable structures using only paper and glue!

First, we saw the yellow and blue towers.
The challenge was for them to withstand an earthquake for the longest.

Both teams told us about the tactics they had used to make their tower as strong as possible.
The yellow team went for stability, while the blue team chose flexibility...

However, it was a victory for the yellow team as the blue tower toppled during the shake!

Next, the teams brought out their bridges.
The bridges had to be 20cm wide and span a distance of one metre.

We loaded each bridge with dictionaries to see which could support the greatest weight!

In the end, the yellow team won again with a total of 14 dictionaries, compared to 10 for the blues.
Congratulations yellow team!
